ASIAN and PACIFIC ISLANDER HERITAGE MONTH
The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee would like to invite everyone to celebrate Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage month. There is a rich heritage of literature, film, music and poetry that have been brought to us, some of which, we’d like to share with you as you go about your very busy workday. These works of art are an excellent chance to mediate, ponder and reflect on the contributions of People of Asian and Pacific Islander cultures.
According to the Federal Asian Pacific American Council (FAPAC), the theme for AAPI Heritage Month 2022 is “Advancing Leaders Through Collaboration.” The FAPAC encourages local and national governments to prioritize collaboration, development, diversity, transparency, and inclusion through leadership training of AAPI people. How appropriate for the collaborative, team approach SSTAR is famous for!
Asians represent a vast portion of the Earth’s people: Chinese, Cambodian, Filipino, Bangladeshi, Vietnamese, Indian, Pakistani, Afghani, Japanese, Samoan, Lao, Malaysian, Thai, Indonesian, Korean, Singaporeans, Taiwanese, Myanmar (Burma)-ese, just to name a few!
We invite you to explore further!
Over the course of the month the committee will send out a few works of art and mediations for you to enjoy – stay tuned.
