December Employees of the Month

We are excited to announce that Shalynn Santos and Judy Gorman are The December Employees of the Month!

Judy has been the clinical supervisor at SSTARbirth for over twenty years. It is noted by that staff who nominated her that she is an integral part of the team who is liked and respected by peers and residents alike. She is described as reliable, honest, funny, and caring, going above and beyond in her role. “When she is wearing her red hat, you know she is trying her best to get those reauthorizations through. You can always hear her coming because she hums along the halls and always stirs up laughter even though she says, ‘no laughing, life is serious!’ with a big grin on her face.” It is noted that she has passion for her work and compassion for her clients. “Judy promotes a sense of community, comradery and hope in the program at SSTARbirth. She runs groups, counsels clients, deals with insurances and other collateral programs.” Judy always listens to the clients and to staff. She is a perfect candidate for Employee of the Month!

Shalynn is a Counselor at the CSS (step down unit) and currently working in the Partial Program. Shalynn was nominated by the staff at the Partial Program. Shalynn has worked in both programs and when a staff member became severely ill at the Partial Program Shalynn stepped up and volunteered to go back to the program to help. It is noted that Shalynn is often the first person that clients speak to when they enter the program. She makes clients feel welcome and comfortable. “She values each client without judgement.” When clients feel the need for help or support, they tend to reach out to Shay first and she does everything she can to help or to find help to meet those needs. Her peers note that she is always willing to pitch in and is a great team member who does not set limits on what she believes are her tasks but will take on any task that the program needs to keep going. Shalynn is a great candidate for Employee of the Month and deserves this honor!
