March Employees of the Month

Laurie Machado and Maria Duran are the March Employees of the Month!
Laurie has been with SSTAR for almost 25 years!
Laurie has been the cornerstone of Human Resources for years. She is a reasonable voice and support for employees when they have a need and is always willing to take on extra duties to make sure that the work gets done. Laurie strives to learn about any subject that she believes will benefit employees and help SSTAR. She manages open enrollment always tracking down employees if they have not finished their paperwork to ensure that there is no disruption to their benefits. She is professional, caring and fair. She is a lifelong learner consistently pursuing added training to stay current with all of the upcoming laws and regulations that may effect our employees. Laurie is an exemplary employee who always wants to do the right thing.

Maria has been with SSTAR for almost two year!
Maria is a security guard who covers every campus. Her calm but firm demeanor when working with clients is one that provides a sense of safety for staff when involved in an interaction that needs to be deescalated. Maria is warm and friendly but professional and clear in her duties. She is well respected by staff and by her peers. She is flexible in her work, always willing to go where she is needed or pick up extra. She rounds regularly in her areas and responds immediately when called or when a code is called. She cares about the clients often stopping to say hello to those who she has gotten to know.
